Greetings Parker Families,

At approximately 3:30 this afternoon, Parker School received a report of shots fired in the vicinity of Parker Street and Pope Street. To ensure the safety of after-school students and staff, the school immediately implemented a shelter-in-place and notified the New Bedford Police Department (NBPD).

As Principal, I remained in direct communication with NBPD, who responded immediately to the area. At approximately 4:00 p.m., NBPD notified Parker School that the shelter-in-place could be lifted, and Parker School subsequently resumed normal operations.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for their cooperation as we followed our safety procedures. We also appreciate the prompt response and support of the New Bedford Police Department.
