911 as we remember

Good Morning Parker ECC Community,

 Today is a day we will never forget—a day that reminds us where we were, what we were doing, and how profoundly our lives and our country were changed forever.

Some of us here are too young to remember September 11, 2001. Some of us were not even born yet. But even if we did not personally experience that day, we have all inherited its memory. We have learned about the lives that were lost, the families that were changed forever, and the incredible acts of courage, compassion, and selflessness that emerged during one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.

Twenty-five years ago today, our country watched as tragedy unfolded. We saw fear and uncertainty, but we also saw ordinary people do extraordinary things. First responders ran toward danger while others were running away. Strangers helped strangers. People opened their hearts, their homes, and their hands to one another. In the midst of unimaginable loss, we were reminded of the strength, courage, and goodness that exists within people.

As we remember, I hope we also remember the lessons that September 11th left with us.

Life is precious. Life is fragile. 

So today, let us be a little kinder to one another. Let us be more patient. Let us check on someone who may need a friend. Let us hold our loved ones a little closer and take a moment to recognize the tremendous blessings that surround us every day.

And most importantly, let us remember that even in the face of unimaginable darkness, there is always an opportunity to choose light—to choose compassion over anger, unity over division, and kindness over hate.

May we never forget those we lost.
May we always honor those who sacrificed so much.
May we carry their memory forward in the way we live, the way we love, and the way we care for one another.
